Artel and SLAS Co-host Popular “Liquid Handling Essentials” Interactive Short Course at SLAS 2018

WESTBROOK, ME (February 5, 2018) – Artel, a leading provider of liquid handling education and resources, is proud to partner with the Society for Automation and Screening (SLAS) for a fourth year in hosting an interactive short course at the SLAS2018 International Conference and Exposition in San Diego, California. A balanced mix of discussion and activity, the hands-on “Liquid Handling Essentials – An Interactive Course” introduces essential concepts affecting liquid handling performance, quality and efficiency, with a focus on the application of best practices on a variety of live systems.

Designed for new and beginning users, as well as anyone interested in basic principles of automated liquid handling, troubleshooting and performance management, expert instruction will provide an overview of fundamental concepts and factors affecting liquid delivery. There will also be in-depth discussions of accuracy and precision, liquid classes and their critical differences, tuning in of parameters for aspirating and dispensing, recommended practices for mixing, and troubleshooting strategies in the context of representative case studies.

“Artel is extremely happy to have been invited back to this year’s conference to share our expertise, working closely with SLAS and collaborating with leading manufacturers,” says Dana Campbell, laboratory applications specialist, Artel. “This interactive course allows us to really engage with participants and focus on a range of laboratory processes, providing them with tools to better manage liquid handling strategies and challenges.”

Instructors for the course will be Nathaniel Hentz, Ph.D., technology training director, Biomanufacturing Center, North Carolina State University; Dana Campbell, laboratory applications specialist, Artel; Lisa Knapp, field applications scientist, Agilent Technologies.

Artel will also be providing five brief but informative in-booth tech talks, two exhibitor tutorials, and a technical poster – all focused on the laboratory challenges facing the scientists at SLAS. These educational opportunities are relevant to any conference attendee concerned with optimizing laboratory results, data integrity and productivity:
