Artel Poster at AACC Meeting Focuses on Micropipettes Best Practices

Westbrook, Maine (June, 15, 2013) – Artel, the leader in liquid handling quality assurance, announced today that the company will present a scientific poster at the 2013 Annual Meeting of the American Association of Clinical Chemistry (AACC) on July 30 in Houston. The poster, “Best Practices for the Use of Micropipettes,” will be on display 9:30 – 5:00 in Session 11; Factors Affecting Test Results. The poster presents the results of research conducted by Artel, along with recommended best practices to ensure optimal results when using handheld pipettes.

At the Clinical Lab Expo, the exhibition held in conjunction with the AACC Annual Meeting, Artel will host its Pipetting Challenge in booth # 3324. Show attendees are invited to enter to test and improve their own pipetting technique as well as the chance to win an Apple iPad mini. Gold, Silver and Bronze medals will be awarded to the contestants that most precisely dispense a target volume of 20 µL, five times in a row. Pipetting Challenge entrants will be placed in direct competition with each other and a leader board will display the top contenders each day.

“Improper pipetting technique is a major source of error in laboratories,” explained Bjoern Carle, product manager for Artel. “The Artel Pipetting Challenge is a fun, hands-on event that helps laboratory professionals improve their pipetting technique. It also demonstrates Artel’s suite of training tools, which are designed to quickly improve pipette operator competence.”

The overall winner of the competition will be announced at the Artel booth at 1:30 on August 1, 2013.
