Artel Celebrates Unspoken Heroes In Labcoats for Lab Week 2018

Each and every day, lab professionals around the world make critical medical decisions – choices that are only as good as the data they gather from various lab tests. The right combination of operator pipetting skills and properly performing pipettes is vital to achieving consistent, reliable results.  This can be achieved by any lab willing to make the investments in proficiency training and robust calibration methodology.

Artel, a strong supporter of the important and demanding work that labs do, is proud to honor laboratory professionals by holding its ever-popular Pipetting Challenge during Medical Laboratory Professionals Week (Lab Week) – April 22nd-28th. The Challenge pits lab teams against one another, using Artel PCS pipetting quality management system, to showcase their pipetting technique skills and achieve the lowest coefficient of variation (CV).

“Lab Week is always a great time for us to recognize medical professionals for the valuable contributions they make to the quality and standard of care in this country,” says Bernadette Danis, marketing manager, Artel. “Our Pipetting Challenge is a well-deserved chance for these highly skilled individuals to relax, have some fun and show off a little.”

Consisting of 10 people each, teams use the PCS to take 10 consecutive data points using a 20 µL volume pipette. With scores submitted online, each team member can win an individual Gold, Silver or Bronze medal and the top three labs with the lowest overall % CV scores win team prizes. Artel also provides a “10 Tips to Improve Your Pipetting Technique” poster as a reference for labs seeking to improve their skills.  In the words of Melinda Gold, product manager:  “We sincerely believe that everyone has the potential to have world-class pipetting skills, and to be a winner.”
