Artel Celebrates Clinical Laboratory Excellence with Popular Annual Pipetting Challenge Throughout Lab Week

WESTBROOK, ME (April 7, 2017) – Artel, a staunch supporter of unspoken heroes in lab coats everywhere, is holding its always-popular Pipetting Challenge during Medical Laboratory Professionals Week (Lab Week) – April 23rd-29th. The Pipetting Challenge is a fun and unique competition with teams competing from their respective laboratories, using the Artel PCS Pipette Calibration System to achieve the lowest coefficient of variation (CV). The scores are submitted online with rankings published as results are submitted and verified. Individual team members can win prizes based on the precision of their results, and lab teams with the lowest CV are also awarded prizes.

“Everyday medical decisions are based on data generated by highly skilled individuals who take pride in the work they do,” says Bernadette Danis, marketing manager, Artel. “The Artel Pipetting Challenge is our way of celebrating the valuable contributions medical professionals make through some well-deserved enjoyment during this week of recognition.”

Lab teams consist of 10 people, each using the Artel PCS to take 10 consecutive data points using a 20 µL volume pipette. Each team member can win an individual gold, silver, or bronze medal based on the precision of his or her delivery. In addition, the top three labs with the overall lowest % CV scores will win team prizes – gift cards to help the team celebrate. The winners will be featured on the Pipetting Challenge web page at: https://www.artel.co/news-events/2017-medical-laboratory-professionals-week.

Medical Laboratory Professionals Week is an annual event highlighting the importance of clinical laboratory competency and celebrates the professionals involved in this critical science. The event is co-sponsored by several organizations, including the American Society for Clinical Laboratory Science (ASCLS) and the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP).
