Improving Assay Performance Using a Process Optimization Approach

This poster presents two major findings. First, how to study liquid handlers as part of a system within the context of the assay being optimized. Second, it was possible to further optimize the overall performance of the assay by not only optimizing the liquid handlers, but by choosing the correct liquid handler-reagent pairing.

Does weather affect pipetting? YES!

This study uses a two factor design (temperature and humidity) to investigate volumetric performance (precision and trueness) at environmental conditions from 15 °C to 30 °C and 30% to 80% relative humidity. Nine environmental conditions were tested, the mid point, four corner cases and four edge cases. Replicate testing was performed at the mid point and corner cases.

Volumetric Performance Assessment of Automated Liquid Handling Systems with ISO IWA 15

In 2015, the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) published a new document, ISO IWA 15, which fills the void in ISO documents describing standardized ways of determining the performance of automated liquid handling systems. While ISO standards exist for the calibration of piston-operated pipettes and other volumetric apparatus (ISO 8655, parts 1 to 7) and volumetric glass pipettes (ISO 4787), there was no global document addressing the performance assessment of automated liquid handling systems. This void has been closed with the development and publication of ISO IWA 15...

Best practices for micropipettes

Best Practices for the Use of Micropipettes

This study evaluates a number of techniques that influence the accuracy and precision of the pipetted volume. The pipette operator has the ability to control all of these parameters by using the appropriate pipetting technique, as well as by choosing the appropriate pipette size and type of pipette tips.

ATS-100 Acoustic Transfer System calibration using Artel MVS and DMSO Range E dye: A practical approach to developing calibration curves

Takeda California uses the non-contact ATS-100 Acoustic Transfer System in various compound management liquid handling activities in support of drug discovery processes. It is widely accepted that proper quality assurance is important for accurate and efficient processes - and proper calibration of automated liquid handling instruments is a key component of such quality assurance.
